It's fast and convenient to have an opening buckle on this style of collar because you can adjust the collar for the perfect size, then open the collar and place on the dog. Without a buckle you have to adjust the collar, slip the collar over the dogs head, and then readjust the collar as the "dog in training" squirms around.
And we have added a solid welded D-ring to the collar to make this a top performing training collar. Because of the added D-ring you can use this collar in two ways. For a martingale collar to work properly in training it must be fitted and worn correctly on the dog. The collar should be worn high on the dog’s neck and sit just behind the ears, see photo. It should fit snuggly and no play in the collar. If you fit it properly it will take just a small amount of tapping on your lead to tighten the collar for response.
Your dog will quickly learn a little tap of the leash means change behavior. To use this collar as a training collar it is important to purchase the correct size for your dog, measure the dog’s neck to insure you purchase the correct size. This collar is for training and should not be left on an unattended dog. Three sizes are available: Small fits a dogs neck from 16-20”, Medium 19-25”, and Large 24-34”.
