How the PetSafe Anti Bark Collar Works
How the PetSafe Anti Bark Collar Works The PetSafe anti bark Collar has two primary features designed to shorten the training phase and promote good behavior. First, the anti bark Collar has a unique patented sensor that provides the most reliable bark detection available. The PetSafe anti bark Collar uses both vibration and sound sensors (dual-detection) to discriminate each bark from other external noises. A Static Correction is administered through the Contact Points only if both the vibration from the vocal chords and the sound from the bark match the same criteria. Second, the anti bark collar has a new patent pending Temperament Learning System design that is effective across many dog breeds and their individual barking behaviors. The Temperament Learning System contains software that tracks the number of corrections needed to substantially reduce (and in most cases eliminate) the number of nuisance barks. The anti bark system has 10 levels of Static Correction. It begins with low-level corrections, however, if excessive barking continues the correction intensity will increase with each successive bark until the barking stops. Once the dog has learned to reduce the barking, the initial warning corrections are reduced. If your dog does not bark within 30 seconds, the anti bark collar will reset itself. As a built-in safety feature, if your dog barks 15 times or more within a 1 minute 20 second period, the anti bark collar will automatically shut off for 3 minutes.
Important:
Before playing with your dog, remove the anti bark collar. The activity may cause your dog to bark, which could lead to him associating the play with the Static Correction.
Dogs bark for a lot of reasons. An electronic anti bark collar is not meant to stop all barking. Some dog breeds are trained to bark while performing some tasks like herding, hunting, or guarding the homestead. This barking is good and won't be discouraged. Barking is not completely stopped; it is controlled. If you wish to control when your dog is allowed to bark, we offer PetSafe training collars. There is more than one type of electronic anti bark collar (click here to see more anti bark collars). Some models respond to the vibrations of a dog's vocal cords. Some models use a microphone that reacts to the noise from the barking. A microphone can be sensitive and may react to sounds other than your dog's barking. Because of this sensitivity, our PetSafe anti bark collars use both methods to ensure that your dog is not being over-corrected by the anti bark collar. The PetSafe anti bark collar emits a mild static correction when the dog barks. The correction from an anti bark collar is similar to the feeling you get when you slide your feet on carpet and then touch something metal. It is not harmful to your dog, but it certainly gets the dog's attention. Our Nano anti bark collar allows you to set the level of correction that is appropriate for your dog. If you don't want to give your dog static correction, you can use an alternative anti bark collar. A citronella anti bark collar corrects the dog with a strong burst of lemon scent. Because dogs have a very strong sense of smell, this lemon scent is especially annoying to them. Your dog will be distracted and will stop barking without any physical discomfort. These anti bark collars are not for the hard core barkers. They will need a static shock collar.
The PetSafe anti Bark Collar is packaged with the RFA-188 battery module installed in the "OFF" position. To activate the anti bark collar, use a coin to turn the Battery Module counterclockwise until the arrow lines up with the "ON" position. If the PetSafe anti bark collar is not going to be used on the dog immediately, leave it in the "OFF" position. The PetSafe RFA-188 Battery was designed to make battery replacement easier and to keep the unit water proof. To replace the battery, simply use a coin and turn the battery module to align the arrows and pull out. *A branch of science and engineering devoted to the design and production of extremely small electronic devices and circuits built from individual atoms and molecules.
